General information
Dorzox 2% 5 ml is carbonic anhydrase inhibitor type of medication. Its active ingredient dorzolamide helps to prevent the gradual loss of vision by lowering high pressure inside the eye. It is also treats an open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Please note that this medication can be used to control glaucoma and cannot be used to cure it.
Directions
Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it depends on the patient's condition and response to this medication. Dorzox is usually used 3 times per day. To apply the eye drop, tilt the head back and pull on the lower lid of the eye to create a pocket for the medication. Hold the dropper above your eye and release one drop into the eye. Press gently on the inside corner of the eye and close it for a minute or two. Remove contact lenses prior to applying the medication and wait at least 15 minutes after application to put contact lenses back on.
Precautions
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to the main ingredient of the drug or to any other ingredients. We strongly recommend you to contact a doctor if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease, have a history of asthma, have serious heart conditions, have diabetes, narrow angle glaucoma or a thyroid disorder.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Dorzox Eye Drops is a contraindication. Also Dorzox should not be used if you have deep puncture wounds, animal bites and allergy to synthetic formulations.
Possible side effect
Some common side effects of the medicine are burning or stinging in eye, double vision, blurred vision, dropping eyelid, nausea, bitter or unusual taste in your mouth, headache. Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction or encounter more severe side effects such as redness or swelling eyes, dark urine, sensitivity to light, jaundice, itchy eyes.
Drug interactions
Dorzox may interact with such drugs and products as Dextranomer, Oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, Seprafilm, Carboxymethylcellulose and Hyaluronan. If you take other medicine at the same time, the effects of Dorzox may change. It may increase your risk for side-effects and cause your drug not to work properly. We advise you to tell doctor about all the drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements you are using, so that your doctor could help you to prevent or manage drug interactions.
Missed dose
In case you have missed to take the prescribed dose of this drug, take it as soon as possible. If you are already supposed to take your next dose, do not take the dose you forgot and keep your ordinary dosage schedule. Avoid compensating a missed dose by taking an extra one.
Overdose
An overdose of this medicine is not expected to cause much harm. However, it is best to consult a doctor in case of overdose of the medicine. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms, rather it may cause poisoning or serious side-effects.
Storage
Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into drainage unless instructed to do so.
